What we commission
Two kinds of piece:
- Service reviews. One x402 service per piece: what a call does, what its handshake asks for, what arrives once it is paid, and where the service stops being the right tool.
- Technical explainers. The protocol beneath the services — how a request is challenged, quoted and settled; how an agent holds a float and spends it per call; what a custom agent needs in order to pay at all.
Each piece is written from the endpoint and the handshake, not from a catalogue: a price appears in a review because the reviewer measured it, not because a list quoted it.
Field Notes
Field Notes, the speculative series, closed in July 2026. Its twenty posts remain online as an archive and are not maintained as current work. Pitches are not taken for it, and the publication does not run a speculative section.
How to pitch
Send the pitch to admin@x402.review. A pitch is easiest to answer when it names the kind of piece — review or explainer — and the service or protocol question it covers. If the endpoint has already been called, say what the handshake returned.
Nothing is published here about rates, lengths or how long a reply takes. Ask at the address above and the answer will be about your piece.
